Overall the kit rendition of the Daimler-Benz DB.601a / Alfa Romeo RA 1000 RC-41 is not bad. However, the bass-relief style of the ignition harness is not convincing, nor is it easy to fix with scratch built elements. Our solution is a drop-in replacement, consisting of 4 parts to replace kit parts 20d and 21d. The ignition harnesses are rendered separately in our custom resin blend that combines super fine detail with flexibility, making them easy to assemble.

Assembly Hints
Note that the raft and cage for both the cylinder banks and harnesses are designed to be broken apart in order to easily gain access to the supports so in most cases they can be snipped close to the workpiece. Please study the harness rendering before cutting until you are sure what is waste and what is workpiece. Take special note of the supports for the junction for the two forward-most spark plug wires; you don't want to accidentally cut the two wires off.
We suggest painting the harnesses and cylinder bank prior to assembling the engine in step 1, as the neatest way to secure the spark plugs and loom is with a dot of CA on the back of the cylinder bank. Once the cylinder bank is attached to the block there will be some minor filling and touch up required.
